What is BCST?

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is a light-touch therapy that acknowledges the whole being and the interconnections of the body, mind and spirit. It begins with the understanding that the body has its own intelligence and inherent state of health.

The therapist will help facilitate the conditions whereby the body can begin to let go of held patterns which may no longer be of use. Once there is a quality of presence the therapist can interact with the intelligence of the body, releasing what does not serve our greater health.

The anatomy and physiology and containment of the whole being is always acknowledged. We do not channel energy from without, “the forces that can be manifested from within are far greater than anything that can be applied from the outside”. We feel the subtle movements and shifts as the tissues reorganize around places of inertia or activation and encourage greater flow throw these areas. As the treatment unfolds the body finds its own resources, the nervous system will discharge, often releasing held trauma. The body finds integration through stillness and expands into deeper states of relaxation.

Pregnancy, Birth and Newborns

BCST can be a great resource for helping a mother’s body adjust to the changes that occur during pregnancy. It can help her prepare for giving birth with confidence and ease.

The birth process can sometimes leave a mother’s nervous system in a heightened state of arousal or just plain depleted. BCST can help mother and baby to co- regulate and can enhance secure attachment, leaving space for mother and baby to bond and adapt with ease to their new world together.

The birth process can leave lasting compressive forces on baby also. BCST can be an effective treatment for a variety of newborn conditions. The powerful creative forces of the newborn set the ideal conditions to affect change with ease through BCST.

Newborns will be treated in the arms of mother, father or caregiver.

Some common conditions in which baby can benefit from BCST:
  • Colic
  • Reflux
  • Torticollis
  • Over productive mucous/Sinusitis
  • Head shape
  • Constipation/Diarrhea
  • Hyperactivity
  • Erb’s palsy
  • Teething
  • Autoimmune disorders: asthma, eczema, allergies
